Brief Description of DutiesThe Department of Architecture and Urban Sustainability at The University of the District of Columbia, College of Agriculture, Urban Sustainability and Environmental Sciences (CAUSES) seeks candidates for an Adjunct faculty position in the Architecture and Community Planning programs.This position requires the adjunct to meet a specific need to: - Teach lecture and seminar courses in their area of expertise in the undergraduate (B.S. major in Architecture) or National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB) accredited Master of Architecture programs. Expertise in teaching courses such as materials and methods of construction, architectural and environmental/energy systems, mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, civil/structural systems and/or energy and fire protection modeling is needed.Essential Duties and Responsibilities - Ability to utilize a variety of assessment techniques to ensure achievement of student learning outcomes. - Familiarity with, or willing to learn a variety of instructional delivery methods, including on-line learning, and to provide educational content and opportunities supported by evidence-based research and individual expertise. - Familiarity with, or willingness to learn Blackboard or other learning management systems. - Familiarity with NAAB accreditation standards. - Work collaboratively with the Department Chair, Associate Dean, Program Director and program faculty, other academic units in CAUSES, land-grant programs, as well as with federal and District ofColumbia (DC) agencies and service providers to effectively address DC and national program priorities related to professional Architecture practice. - Maintain records of enrollment and attendance, assessments and grades, submit class rosters and grade sheets by the deadlines established by the institution. - Attend one or more orientation session(s) to become familiar with the institution's mission and teaching philosophy, policies and procedures and the learning management system. - Adhere to University policies and guidelines in all matters concerning academics and student and staff conduct.Minimum Job Requirement - Master's level degree in Engineering: M.Eng. and P.E. licensure - Practice experience in related engineering systems and licensure in any one of the 54 US jurisdictions including the District of Columbia. - Strong interpersonal skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills. - Familiarity with and adherence to NAAB accreditation standards.Preferred - PhD in in Engineering, with an M.Eng. and P.E. licensure

Condition of Employment: Temporary employment may be ended at anytime with or without cause.

Collective Bargaining Unit: Dependent upon certain criteria, this position may be eligible for representation and require payment of union fees through direct payroll deduction.
