SCA Status: This is a Non-Exempt / Union position Summary: Craig Technologies has an opening for a 3rd Shift, Facilities Maintenance Technician on the NASA ETIS (Environmental Test, Integration Services Contract) in Greenbelt VAThis position supports the Thermal Vacuum group and Facility Maintenance group at NASA's Goddard Space Flight CenterThey will work under the direction of a Lead Technician or Engineer performing routine and non-routine assignmentsReceives technical advice when needed and performs with little supervisionMay cross-train and/or support other duties associated within area of assignment as directed by Lead personnel or SupervisorPosition Level will be based on relevant skills and experienceDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Support PEB Milestones and Maintenance OperationsAbility to perform preventative maintenance, upgrades, and repairs to mechanical/electrical systems that support facilitiesWork on Thermal Vacuum systems and test facilities (e.g., vibration tables)Work on vacuum systems (e.g., pumps, controllers, liquid nitrogen systems, etc.)Troubleshoot and solve problems varying in complexityPerform other related duties as assigned or required by managementWill be required to acquire GSFC specific trainingApplies comprehensive technical knowledge to solve complex problems (i.e., those that typically can be solved solely by properly interpreting manufacturers' manuals or similar documents) while working on mechanical & electrical equipmentPerform other related duties as assigned or required by managementWill be required to acquire GSFC specific trainingCommunicate with Group Lead and management as required to complete tasksMust be able to follow written proceduresKNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS High school diploma or equivalentAssociate degree in a technical field is preferredMinimum 10 years' experience related to mechanical/electrical systemsShall be well versed in the use of schematics in everyday assignments-drafting, designing, constructing, and troubleshooting from theseAbility to work from well-defined specifications contained in sketches, diagrams, and drawings to carry out assignmentsExperience assembling components for large thermal vacuum test facilitiesEffective communication and positive interpersonal skills with ability to work well in a team-oriented atmosphereFamiliarity with hand tools and mechanical/electrical principlesBasic proficiency in basic math calculations, PC tools, MS Office, E-mail, and Web applicationsMust be capable of successfully completing the following training: hazard communication, personal protective equipment, IT security and other required training or certifications (e.g., Crane, LDE, Manlift, etc.) as directed by ETIS managementAccept and work within established policies and procedures pertaining to company rules and regulationsMay need to Travel 10%Additional Requirements / Details To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform all the essential duties of the position satisfactorilyThe requirements are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability requiredReasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functionsMay be required to obtain and maintain a security clearance, including successfully completing a thorough background investigation.
