Job Description:
Reporting to the Associate Director of Student Outreach and
Support, we are seeking aLeave of Absence Specialistwho will
support University efforts to support students leaving and
returning to Johns Hopkins University for a leave of absence.
During times of health or personal crises, JHU undergraduates have
the opportunity to take a Medical Leave of Absence (MLOA) or
Emergency Leave of Absence (ELOA). A MLOA is for a student managing
a physical or mental health concern that does not allow them to
continue to engage in their academics and time away is necessary.
An ELOA is for a student managing a personal crisis such as caring
for a parent/guardian, or the sudden death of a family member.
The LOA Specialist will be responsible for managing paperwork and
documentation related to the LOA process. In addition, The LOA
Specialist will be responsible for updating the Student Outreach
and Support Leave of Absence website, as well as updating office
processes and forms related to the LOA.
As part of the University's commitment to support students leaving
and returning, consistent outreach and communication is vital to
understand students' needs and help keep them on track. The LOA
specialist will be responsible for creating and tracking
communication and outreach timelines to students while on an LOA as
well as when they return.
In addition, the LOA Specialist will work with the Associate
Director and Assessment and Analysis team on tracking data related
to leaves and reinstatements.

The referenced salary range is based on Johns Hopkins University's
good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may
vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience,

JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester
hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of
experience. Additional related experience may substitute for
required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is
permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may
be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required
for the respective job.

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas,
laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving

Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella
(chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the
Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include
documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella
vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory
testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are
ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for
those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization
documentation from their own health care providers. Any
vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost
