Open Date 04/15/2024 Closing Date Summer school employment is
contingent upon continued employment with City Schools for FY 25.
Should your employment end for any reason (either voluntarily or
through a Reduction in Force), you will no longer be eligible for
summer employment. The BCPSS site director is responsible for the
content and implementation of the Bright Minds Academy. This site
director will report from 7:45AM-3:45PM. Essential Functions
- Serve as elementary teacher of record for the classroom.
- Supervise and support the implementation of the mathematics and
engineering curriculum.
- Visit sites and classrooms daily to support and supervise the
program.
- Manage equipment and materials for the program.
- Coordinates event logistics, field trips, and partnerships with
the Teaching & Learning Staff specialist and the Program
Manager.
- Coordinates meal times, breaks, and transitions.
- Performs and promotes all activities in compliance with equal
employment and nondiscrimination policies; follows federal laws,
state laws, school board polices and the professional standards.
Desired Qualifications
- Active full time employee of Baltimore City Public Schools for
the 2023-2024
- Possession of all appropriate licenses, certificates, and
contracts for the 2023-2024 school year (non-renewals, expiring
certifications, separations including retirees will not be
considered for summer school employment).
- Acceptable rating by school principal/administrator (to be
completed electronically by your school principal after you have
submitted a completed application online).
- Prior experience and interest in one or more of the following
areas:
- Gifted Instruction
- Enrichment
- Working with intellectually advanced elementary students
- Masters degree preferred
- Valid teaching certificate in elementary education, Advanced
Professional preferred
- Extensive early learning teaching experience
- Satisfactory or Proficient evaluation rating for the last 3
school years.
- Ability to communicate effectively with school personnel and
students
- Ability to effectively interact with school personnel and
students
- Ability to respond to emergency situations while maintaining
composure and demonstrating appropriate professionalism and
restraint at all times
- Previous experience facilitating sessions with groups of
teachers
- Proficient in the use of technical computer applications,
including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint Full time or Part

- Light work, exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally
