Job Description Job Description Description: The Construction Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for construction projects by analyzing drawings, specifications, proposals, and other documentation. This role involves coordinating with project managers, engineers, architects, and subcontractors to ensure estimates are comprehensive, competitive, and aligned with company objectives. Essential Functions: Estimate Preparation: Review project plans, specifications, and related documents to prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates. Quantify materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs. Develop cost breakdowns and schedules for multiple project phases. Bid Management: Prepare and submit competitive bids and proposals. Communicate with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain pricing and ensure scope coverage. Review and evaluate subcontractor quotes for accuracy and completeness. Cost Analysis & Reporting: Analyze historical data to refine and improve estimating processes. Prepare cost comparisons and value engineering options. Maintain an up-to-date cost database for materials, labor, and equipment. Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to clarify project scope and requirements. Participate in pre-construction meetings and handoff processes to ensure smooth project transition. Compliance & Quality: Ensure all estimates comply with company policies, industry standards, and safety regulations. Identify potential risks, cost-saving opportunities, and constructability issues early in the estimating phase. The successful applicant will be responsible for supporting a variety of procurements, hard bid, design build and on-call in the private and public sectors. Qualifications: Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree. 3–7 years of experience as an Estimator in the construction industry. Proven experience in K-12, higher education, institutions, and public works. Skills & Competencies: Proficient in estimating software such as Bluebeam. Strong knowledge of construction materials, means and methods, and building codes. Excellent analytical and mathematical skills with keen attention to detail. Strong communication and negotiation abilities. Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple bids simultaneously. Must be familiar with Excel and proficient in its use.
